TICAS Responds to Education Department’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Higher Ed Accountability Measures

In response to the Department of Education’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on a set of higher education accountability measures meant to strengthen student protections, TICAS submitted a letter to the Department emphasizing the need for these measures to protect students, borrowers, and taxpayers from predatory programs that continue to exploit students, particularly those from marginalized communities.

TICAS urges leaders at the Department to implement the proposed higher education accountability measures, including Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment, Financial Responsibility, Administrative Capability, Certification Procedures, and Ability to Benefit as part of a wider racial equity agenda. Additionally, TICAS provided policy recommendations to further strengthen the proposed measures.
