NY Priority: The Consumer and Small Business Protection Act (CSPA)


The Consumer and Small Business Protection Act (“CSPA”) updates New York’s general consumer protection law for the first time in 45 years to ban unfair and abusive business conduct, protect small businesses, and impose meaningful consequences for violations. New York must act this year to overhaul its woefully outdated consumer protection statute to ensure its residents and institutions have the greatest level of protection, particularly as student protection regulations are threatened at the federal level.
