TICAS Statement on Education Department’s Proposed GE Rule

“We applaud the Education Department’s work to propose strengthened student and borrower protections, including reinstating the critical gainful employment rule. Along with other needed regulations, GE will help ensure students are not left worse off financially as a result of enrolling in postsecondary career programs. The rule will deter institutions from continuing to offer the kind of high-cost, low-quality programs that too often exacerbate racial and economic inequities. We look forward to reviewing the proposed rules in depth and providing detailed comments to further improve these already strong proposals.”
